Gripping Point

I am excited about the next series for our community groups. It is called Gripping Point: What do you hang onto when there is nothing left to grab onto?

The Gripping Point
Mountain climber Craig DeMartino fell 96 feet, shattering his feet and ankles, snapping his neck and back, puncturing a lung...

And then things got bad.

Join Craig DeMartino on the mountains that took his leg—and nearly his life.

Five years after a catastrophic fall, Craig and his family consider lessons learned about coping with pain . . . relying on God . . . and finding answers to impossible questions.

This 6-session small group video series exploring the problem of pain will challenge your small group to tackle questions like . . .

* If God loves us, why won’t he protect us?
* What’s the worst question to ask when you’re in pain
* How can you best help someone who’s suffering?
* How might pain be the best thing that’s happened to you
* How does your attitude impact your pain?
* How can people in pain ever trust God again?

Each 1-hour session prompts your small group members to experience Craig’s life . . . share their own stories of pain and disappointment . . . and develop a faith that endures hardship.

On April 13th, all youth are invited to come out to our 2 hour Gripping Point Kick Off. Come at 6pm for a community meal at the farmhouse and at 7pm we will kick this series off together and then break into our community groups.

You will not want to miss this series.

note: Quetico participants need to attend the Quetico meeting at 6pm on the 13th in the auditorium.

Summer is on the way!

First of all, my apologies to not being faithful to this blog. The business of life has caused me to neglect this. Those days are over. Please start checking back here often to see what is going on in the Centerville Community Church Youth Ministry.

Ski Trip- Day 1 Friday

We rolled out of CCC at 4:30. We had a good drive up here. We stopped at Wendys for dinner just outside of Columbus. We got to the hotel at about 11:30. Everyone is in their room now getting ready for bed. We have a LONG day a head of us tomorrow. It is going to be a great weekend.

Peace-

Jon

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race Scavenger hunt was simply AMAZING! We raced all over Centerville looking for our clues and getting them on camera. Matty K brought some questionable answers back with him but we all had a good time. This will for sure be an annual event!

Rain

On Wednesday night, we watched the video Rain from the nooma series. It is a fantastic video about when the storms of life come, we need to make sure that our life is firmly footed in Christ(clip above).

I have been thinking about those statistics i shared with you all week. They say that between 70% and 92% of high school students today will talk away from Church within 4 months of graduating high school and leaving their parents home. 60% percent of you will come back. It scares me, but it also drives us as your leaders to help you guys discover more of the life God wants for you. To help you firmly ground yourself in Christ so that you will be able to stand up against the storms once you are out of our youth program. Know that we are care and love you guys.

This is gonna be a fantastic year guys. We are going to grow alot together this year. Remember what I promised you Wednesday. We as adult leaders are going to do everything we can do help you grow in your walk with Christ. But you need to do your part. Come be part of what we are doing. Commit to be there Wednesday nights, small groups and Sunday school to discover more of what God has for you. I promise you that it will be worth your time. You will not regret it. And remember...

DIVE IN!

Peace,

JON
